Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was locating a keyboard in her loft, and becoming captivated by its music. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents May Britt Aksnes, as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes urged Aurora Aksnes to take up the piano as a passion or as a profession. So she started making her own lyrics. Her sources include renowned authors Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and her love of Bjork's style. She decided to start performing the songs she wrote publicly after her mother said they could help people not be famous with her work but to make the people around them understand their own importance and how they have an impact on the world. She began playing the piano when she was six years old and started making music at the age of nine. It wasn't known to her family about her musical talents until she turned fourteen. Aurora isn't something she imagined as a child. Her words say that she just likes to write songs. To her, music is one of the most efficient ways to convey anything.
